Pinna-Brelstaff Illusion
by Jason Brain
The Pinna-Brelstaff Illusion features concentric rings made up of alternating shapes, each with inverse shading. As you move your head closer to or farther from the illusion, the rings appear to rotate, expand, and contract, creating a mesmerizing, dynamic effect. This optical illusion plays with depth perception and visual processing, causing the shapes and movement to shift depending on your perspective. (Go ahead, try this for yourself with the image above – we’ll wait!)
